A trip we had planned and booked for yesterday was in doubt for awhile as Dad still wasn't completely well. But he said it was silly for us not to go as the tickets were non-refundable so Mum and I took the train down to York for the day. Our first call was at the Rail Museum, handily indoors as the rain had already started when we arrived, in spite of what the weather forecast said. We spent a nice hour in there marvelling at how comfortable many years ago even third class looked! We saw a replica of The Rocket the oldest train, and the actual Mallard, the one time fastest train and sat in the Bullet train. Then we headed into York, ignoring the heavier and heavier rain, found a nice pub for lunch and had a walk round the Shambles, very narrow and very crowded!. After that we sat by the river for awhile before heading back to the station. A very damp but fun day.
A few more pictures of the day are here.
