We set off for our weekend in Scotland on Friday morning. An uneventful train journey later we were met by my cousin at Berwick and set out for lunch at a very small pub in Paxton a very small village that served the most wonderful food. Some of the best chips and scampi I've ever eaten. After a very filling lunch we drove to Kelso for a little shopping and a walk down by the Tweed. The weather wasn't so terrific and there weren't many people but we did see some wildlife.
Saturday we took a trip to a local donkey sanctuary. I've never really seen a donkey that close up and there were plenty to look at and all very cute. We all had a go at feeding them carrots which they rushed to take. One or two of them were a little shy but most of them were very friendly. Again the weather wasn't terrific but it certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment. After the sanctuary we took a drive to a place called Scott's View. It was certainly worth the journey on some very twisty narrow roads. Even with mist and rain it was beautiful.
Sunday was a lazy day, a late morning then we drove to Coldstream and had a very large traditional Sunday dinner, roast beef with all the trimmings. We took a short stroll first to check out another view of the Tweed. A walk afterwards would have been nice to walk off the huge lunch but unfortunately by then the rain was pouring. Then it was back to station for the journey home.
We had a great time this weekend, the weather may not have been very friendly but that didn't stop us enjoying it one bit.
Scotts view looks awesome. I hope to be able to visit Schotland one day
It was a lovely place. Scotland is worth a visit, hope you get there soon,
Tine.
I have been but never got to see sweet donkies like those..aww!
You took some lovely pics!
Thanks, Merri. If you are ever back there the donkeys are worth a visit!
Peter keeps saying he wants to take me to Scotland, because he's been there
before. He told me I have to see it in person to realize the beauty of it.
