Sunshine

Sunday, 11 May 2008 9:19 P GMT
I don't know where this weekend has gone to.  All I know is that it went a lot faster than the week did!  And now a full week at work, these short weeks do spoil you!  It's been another beautiful sunny day here, if anything a little too warm.  You see how people just are never satisfied.  But too warm is much better than too wet and grey as it was!

Hot

Thursday, 8 May 2008 7:09 P GMT

Last week it looked like we might all go down with a nasty case of rust thanks to the rain.  This week any change in colour would be due to sunburn.  It has actually been too hot for comfort at times the last couple of days and it's supposed to continue for a few days more!  The garden bench has seen lots of use and I have dug out my sunglasses.  T-shirts are next!

Work, of course, hasn't been so pleasant in this unexpected heat.  Especially as it's so busy.  We're still waiting for the air conditioning to kick in!

Busy, busy, busy

Tuesday, 6 May 2008 2:19 P GMT

My diet was well and truely broken over the weekend by a combination of home made scones and store bought cake and chocolate.  Well, there are only two bank holidays this month so you have to take the chance while you can!  But today I more than made up for any amount of chocolate by the large quantities of energy I used up at work.  My timetable was all up in the air as it was changed first by someone taking late holiday and then because there were so many people at the desk that being the nearest one there I had to pitch in.  Then add in almost two hours continuous shelving of lots and lots of books and I would hope a lot of calories got used up.

The weather today has been wonderful.  Far too nice to spend at work and much nicer than over the weekend which is not a great surprise.  But whatever day it decides to come on it is very welcome!

Dandelions

Sunday, 4 May 2008 6:45 P GMT
Somehow the weather seems to know it's a Bank Holiday weekend and it's the usual grey and damp again.  It might know it's a Bank Holiday but it certainly doesn't seem to know that it's Spring!  The one real show of colour outside, as bright as sunshine is the absolute multitude of dandelions we have at the minute, not my favourite wild flower or weed depending on your point of view.  But it is nice to see something that reminds you of sunshine as we are having so little of it lately.  But anyway the weather or lack of it doesn't affect us over a holiday weekend as we rarely venture out.  I can't see the enjoyment in spending hours in traffic jams.  So a continuation of the nice relaxed couple of days which suits me fine.  It as also given me the chance to rest up my foot which has decided to stop teasing me with the is it or isn't it bad enough to do anything about and is finally getting better.  It's still a bit bruised but definitely not so sore.

Relaxing

Not doing  very much with a day's holiday can still be great as it's still just nice not to have to get up and go to work!  And today was very much a don't do much day.  A late breakfast, a little shopping, some blog reading and this evening a new pizza place tried out and successfully too.  Lazy, yes.  Good, yes!  Oh and a little whisky got drunk along the way too!

Getting wet

Wednesday, 30 April 2008 3:32 P GMT
It's as well I only have a short week at work this week as it has been very trying.  I'm still limping a little after a book jumped off the trolley yesterday and landed on the top of my foot.  Some swelling and bruising yesterday, a little swelling today but the bruising has gone which is annoying as it feels like it somehow belittles how much it hurts!  I woke up very early this morning to hear the rain positively drumming down outside so I knew it would be a difficult walk to work.  First it required wading through a pool of water that just slopped straight into my shoes and then when my feet were nearly dry trying to negotiate another huge pool of water by standing on a muddy stretch of grass.  Said mud immediately poured into my shoe.  Now if it had been the other way round the water would have cleaned the mud out of my shoe as it was I had to squelch to work with a shoe full of mud.  Not very pleasant.  And once there we got our payslips as today is payday and today is the start of paying double tax.  I'm too polite to express my feeling exactly about that one!  And I am being so determined about my diet that I can't even make myself feel good with some chocolate!

Restless

Monday, 28 April 2008 3:36 P GMT

One day down, three to go, not that I'm counting the time until my short break.  But I will be glad when it's here.  Sometimes you just feel like you need a break from the routine and that's just how I do feel.  I'm suffering from a bout of restlessness which I know will pass.  But for now the regular routine is a bit irksome.

Spring has a lot to do with it, the prospect of sunshine always makes people restless I think and we did actually have some today, in between more torrential downpours which also make you want to get away!
