Haircuts and falling books

Friday, 4 December 2009 10:30 P GMT
It's been a long week for some reason even though it's been very busy at work which makes the time pass quite nicely and I've been quite busy shopping too.  I was quite tired this morning as I've had a few late nights this week, mainly through just not going to bed early enough and then on top of that one of the books jumped off the shelf, helped by me trying to free a book that had become wedged at the back of the shelf, and hit me right on the forehead.  Luckily it wasn't too big a book but it made me quite glad the weekend was coming up!  Then after work it was into town to get my hair cut not one of my favourite things to do.  A little shopping afterwards took quite a bit of time as it is getting very crowded and then I was home.  I'm looking forward to a nice lazy weekend!

Busy

Sunday, 29 November 2009 9:33 P GMT
Another weekend has gone by.  I have quite a busy week coming up as I plan to do a lot of shopping for Christmas.  Hopefully the weather will be better than it has been the last couple of days.  Yesterday was misty and chilly, today it has rained non stop.  I'm looking forward to shopping even though the town is getting a lot busier.  This week there will probably be some late lunches!

Stormy

Tuesday, 24 November 2009 7:46 P GMT

Lots and lots of shelving to do at work which is good as the time passes nicely.  The bit before work and after I leave hasn't been so great this week though as the weather is awful.  I suppose at least it has been pouring with rain or howling gales but not both at the same time which means at least it's possible to keep an umbrella up and stay more or less dry!

It's definitely been weather for sitting nice and warm with a book or in front of the television both of which I have been doing.  A glass of whiskey to go with it is nice as well!

Shopping

Thursday, 19 November 2009 8:12 P GMT

It was down to some serious Christmas shopping this morning.  Yesterday Mum and I did a little and today I went into town with Dad to buy some presents for Mum.  We did a lot of walking and a lot of carrying heavy bags.  We also had a stop for a cup of hot chocolate and a lovely pain au raisin!  There weren't such big crowds that might have been expected certainly not early on although it did get busier.  Even with that it was enjoyable!

On holiday

Tuesday, 17 November 2009 3:42 P GMT

I'm on holiday now for the rest of the week and as usual when waiting to start some time off the morning dragged a little.  It wasn't so bad this morning as part of it was taken up with a short workshop that everyone is going on.  It was on customer journey mapping which I hadn't really heard of beforehand but which means mapping out the steps a customer would take to do a certain thing like borrow a book or look for something on the catalogue.  And for part of the workshop we actually had to do that in teams, pick an activity and behave as if we were an undergraduate or an academic or a mature student.  Not so easy to do as it's difficult to forget that you know how to do these things or you know where things are but we did it.  And quite interesting it was too to look at things as if they were all strange to you.

But now I can forget work related things for a few days and look forward to doing some Christmas present shopping. And there might be a cup or two of hot chocolate drunk as well!

Short week

Sunday, 15 November 2009 11:25 A GMT
Another weekend has flown by.  But I don't mind this week as I have a nice short week coming up.  I am at work tomorrow and Tuesday and then I have three days off to do some Christmas shopping.  I am really looking forward to it as I enjoy shopping for presents and it's lovely to spend money like that.

Window shopping

I had a busy morning at work with lots of walking followed by even more walking in town this afternoon. But first, after work, I had a stop at Marks for some lunch, a lovely plateful of sausage and mash.  Then I spent a couple of hours looking for Christmas presents.  Everywhere was quite busy but I managed to get done what I wanted.  I got some  more good ideas and ended up with sore feet!
