Last week it looked like we might all go down with a nasty case of rust thanks to the rain. This week any change in colour would be due to sunburn. It has actually been too hot for comfort at times the last couple of days and it's supposed to continue for a few days more! The garden bench has seen lots of use and I have dug out my sunglasses. T-shirts are next!
Work, of course, hasn't been so pleasant in this unexpected heat. Especially as it's so busy. We're still waiting for the air conditioning to kick in!
My diet was well and truely broken over the weekend by a combination of home made scones and store bought cake and chocolate. Well, there are only two bank holidays this month so you have to take the chance while you can! But today I more than made up for any amount of chocolate by the large quantities of energy I used up at work. My timetable was all up in the air as it was changed first by someone taking late holiday and then because there were so many people at the desk that being the nearest one there I had to pitch in. Then add in almost two hours continuous shelving of lots and lots of books and I would hope a lot of calories got used up.
The weather today has been wonderful. Far too nice to spend at work and much nicer than over the weekend which is not a great surprise. But whatever day it decides to come on it is very welcome!
One day down, three to go, not that I'm counting the time until my short break. But I will be glad when it's here. Sometimes you just feel like you need a break from the routine and that's just how I do feel. I'm suffering from a bout of restlessness which I know will pass. But for now the regular routine is a bit irksome.
Spring has a lot to do with it, the prospect of sunshine always makes people restless I think and we did actually have some today, in between more torrential downpours which also make you want to get away!
